have they fixed the weak nose on this plane? or do you still have to reinforce the nose area with cf rods?

I have not had to do anything to this plane in the nose, it seems stout although.

I don't know if there was a fix done between the first gen and this opne, but I have added a second battery. (2 5000 6s) increasing the weight of the aircraft by 1.5 lbs and I land it hard all the time. I am still on my first nose landing gear.
I landed it so hard one time that the whole gear assembly was torn out. but it glued back in. the nose cone was undamaged during this altercation.

I would be best to do so. I have two of them and they are a great plane, however, like a lot of these types they need reinforcing in weak areas.

Mine was not re-enforced. I flew mine with no problem, but I did notice how weak the nose is. I purchased some 5mm carbon fiber rods about a foot long on ebay. Sharpened one end and carefully pressed them in on both sides of the nose. Make sure you do not go to far as they will protrude to the outside of the nose. Two on top and two on bottom. Pulled them out and put a small amount of 15min epoxy on them and reinserted. You must see the video's on youtube for help.

What are the recommended aileron, elevator, rudder control throws. High rate, and low rate. There were none in the instructions.

I went with full throws which was too much. I dialed down to about 50% in flight as I have a dial to do so. Left it there. Great flying airplane but be careful in the turns as she will tip stall easily. Read on stall recovery if you have not yet for this type of thing edf set-up. Rich from RC informer has a great video.

i had the same question, went on line at RC Groups.com and searched the Forums for ME 262. Aile: H 7/8 ", L 5/8 " 30% expo...Ele: H 3/4 ", L 1/2 " 30% expo...Rudd: H 1" L 3/4 " 30% expo This was from a posting Mar 14, 18 #3433. Hope this helps. Just so you know i have yet to be able to test fly my plane.

why go with split flaps when the scale flaps should have been easier to manufacture? "super scale" with a glaring non-scale feature that is difficult to correct. (The non-scale nose strut is simple to fix)

It is a fairly inexpensive foam semi-scale model that looks and flies great! The split flaps are not scale but are also not as noticeable but are very effective. I use half flap for take off and full flaps for landing on short grass. Very fast and get about four minutes per flight on 5000 6S battery. I guess you could expect scale flaps on a model costing ten times as much.

I have been using a 6000mah battery slid...read moreThis is my second review of this model and I can say it flies great. It has plenty of power to spare. I have been using a 6000mah battery slid as far forward as possible with a small amount of weight added in the nose. The maiden flight was a bit tail heavy, but after about 15 clicks of down elevator it flew great. With this model always keep up some speed when turning on final. Landing is nice with about 75% to 100% flaps and a little power untill you reach the runway then cut power. I did re-enforce the nose with 5mm carbonfiber rods to prevent the nose from breaking off. Check out you tube video's on how to do the modification. Nice jet when flying . Very realistic looking paint sceme.

Some Cautions and praise on the Freewing ME-262

It is a hot plane (can...read moreFirst the Sulphur, then the sugar: *The Sulphur Caution #1: NOT FOR BEGINNERS. Maybe intermediate if experienced. This plane personifies the old saying “Speed is life”. It is a hot plane (can do over 100mph). Caution #2: It is a high-fidelity copy of a 1940s jet and it comes with all of the vices of the real plane. This includes being prone to tip stalls so do not get to slow with high AOA and control the wing rock. Do not try to rotate too soon. Caution #3: Critical 10mm wide CG (100-110mm aft of wing root leading edge). This is well presented in manual so no excuses (BTW, I was about less than an inch off and disaster resulted. See video link). Caution #4: The nose section/gear is prone to get knocked off if it suddenly stops, say for instance you land it in tall grass. Harden it with carbon fiber rods to strengthen the nose section (and tail). Caution #5: The camo paint scheme is surprisingly effective so be alert to your sky and background conditions. I colored my wingtips with high visibility markings and it paid off (white on top, red /yellow on bottom. **And now for the she Sugar This may be the best/nicest EDF out there. Good quality everything and very scale. Great handling once trimmed out. Solid, fast and predictable. If you get it right and can handle this bad-boy you will leave the filed with and ear-to-ear grin. Motion RC is great. I have never seen such customer service in RCs before. ***Additional note. Motion RC seems to be running out of parts for this plane and I fear it may have been discontinued. I personally bought a bunch of new stuff but there do not seem to be any replacement engine nacelles in the USA. The plane may have been discontinued. I guess I will have to buy another one. ****Recommendations: Triple check you CG. It will try to fly before the wingtips are ready so get solid speed prior to rotation or will try to roll which leads to wing rock and tip stalling. It needs a few minor clean-ups before flight which are covered in countless videos. Everything is superb, except for one small detail. I do have some slight wavy shape in the wings. It is so slight that I think it will have no effect on the performance. It is mainly at the trailing edge around the flaps and a very small amount at the wing tips.
